ABOUT THIS PHOTO:
In this 1923 photo we see 4 generations of the family. The little girl in the left of this photograph is the 3 year old Opal (Gipson) Luttrell. Standing behind Opal is her mother Luna (Hill) Gipson. The man is Opal's grandfather Timothy Hill. The woman in the chair is Opal's Great-Grandmother Dula Hill.

Sadly Timothy's father Annanias was found murdered at a nearby spring in 1867 by his wife Dula and the then 1 year old Timothy. Annanias had been killed by the Ku Klux Klan. This was 2 years after the Civil War had ended and some say the murder was motivated by Annanias's politics and outspokeness. To read more about this story click HERE.
